The Saudi national team enters the final of Gulf 27 against its Emirati counterpart this evening (Tuesday) at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, with the ambition of clinching the Gulf title, in a match that allows no room for error, making focus and handling the details of the game crucial factors on the green team’s path to victory.

Former Al-Nasr player Hassan Hamran confirmed in his talk to “Okaz” that the Saudi team needs to achieve balance above all, pointing out that offensive strength alone will not be enough to secure the final, while excessive caution might give the Emirati team a chance to impose its style.

Hamran explained that what is required is to start the match calmly, with calculated pressure, and to increase the speed of transition from defense to attack, emphasizing that controlling the midfield will be a key factor for the green team’s superiority, as it will prevent the Emirati team from building its attacks comfortably and will give the Saudi team the ability to quickly transition play to the attacking third.

He added that the green team also needs to reduce slow cross passes and rely more on vertical play and penetrating through spaces, especially given the likelihood of the Emirati team retreating to its defensive areas.

Hamran pointed out that scoring an early goal could completely change the dynamics of the final, but he stressed that this does not mean the Saudi team should rush from the first minute; rather, they should rely on smart pressure and exploit the opponent’s mistakes while maintaining defensive balance. He noted that the Emirati team has proven its ability to handle closed matches, and thus opening spaces for them could be one of the most dangerous things the green team could fall into.

He confirmed that the final of the tournament allows no room for error, making focus a decisive factor, adding: “Whenever focus is present and continues with the green team, they will achieve the championship cup, God willing.”

Regarding what is required from the green team’s attack, Hamran clarified that the problem that appeared against the Qatari team in the semi-final was in the final touch, stressing the necessity for the forwards to move continuously, draw defenders out of their positions, and exploit second balls, along with making quick decisions inside the penalty area.
