أكد الإيطالي فابيو كانافارو، المدير الفني لمنتخب أوزبكستان، أن فريقه سيدخل مباراته الأولى في تاريخ مشاركاته بكأس العالم دون ضغوط، عندما يواجه كولومبيا الأربعاء في افتتاح مشواره بمونديال 2026، مشدداً على أهمية الاستمتاع بهذه اللحظة التاريخية مع الحفاظ على الروح التنافسية.
وقال كانافارو خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي سبق اللقاء إن الجهاز الفني عمل على مساعدة اللاعبين في التعامل مع الأجواء الاستثنائية لأول ظهور لأوزبكستان على المسرح العالمي، مستفيداً من تجربته الشخصية عندما قاد المنتخب الإيطالي إلى التتويج بلقب كأس العالم عام 2006.
وأوضح المدرب الإيطالي أن رسالته الأساسية للاعبين تمثلت في ضرورة الاستمتاع بالتجربة واستيعاب قيمتها التاريخية، مؤكداً أن المنتخب لا يملك ما يخسره في مشاركته الأولى، لكنه في الوقت ذاته يدرك أهمية القتال والمنافسة في كل مباراة.
وأضاف أن المشاركة في كأس العالم تمثل محطة ستبقى راسخة في ذاكرة اللاعبين طوال مسيرتهم، مشيراً إلى أنه حرص على نقل تفاصيل تجربته الأولى في البطولة العالمية لمساعدتهم على التعامل مع الضغوط المصاحبة لهذا الحدث.
وشدد كانافارو على أن المنتخب الأوزبكي لا يسعى فقط إلى تحقيق نتائج إيجابية، بل يتطلع أيضاً إلى تقديم صورة تعكس ثقافة البلاد وهويتها الكروية وفلسفتها داخل الملعب، لافتاً إلى أن الظهور الأول في المونديال يشكل فرصة لإبراز شخصية الكرة الأوزبكية أمام العالم.
ويعوّل المنتخب الأوزبكي على المدافع عبد القادر خوسانوف، لاعب مانشستر سيتي، لقيادة المنظومة الدفاعية خلال البطولة، حيث وصفه كانافارو بأنه لاعب يمتلك القدرة على التحكم في مجريات المباراة والتعامل مع الضغوط، فضلاً عن مرونته التكتيكية وقدرته على شغل أكثر من مركز.
ورأى المدرب الإيطالي أن بروز خوسانوف في أحد أبرز الأندية الأوروبية يعكس التطور المتسارع لكرة القدم الأوزبكية، متوقعاً أن تشهد السنوات القادمة انتقال المزيد من اللاعبين الأوزبكيين إلى الدوريات الأوروبية الكبرى.
كما أشار إلى أن التطور الذي حققته كرة القدم في أوزبكستان، من خلال الاستثمار في الأكاديميات والبنية التحتية الرياضية، كان من بين الأسباب الرئيسية التي دفعته إلى قبول مهمة تدريب المنتخب.
وتستهل أوزبكستان مشوارها في المجموعة الخامسة عشرة بمواجهة كولومبيا على ملعب أزتيكا في العاصمة المكسيكية، قبل أن تواجه البرتغال وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، فيما أعرب كانافارو عن تطلعه لخوض المباراة في أحد أكثر الملاعب شهرة في تاريخ كرة القدم، مؤكداً أن اللعب على أرض شهدت لحظات خالدة صنعها أساطير اللعبة يمثل تجربة استثنائية لفريقه.
The Italian Fabio Cannavaro, head coach of the Uzbekistan national team, confirmed that his team will enter its first match in the history of its World Cup participation without pressure, when they face Colombia on Wednesday in the opening of their journey in the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing the importance of enjoying this historic moment while maintaining a competitive spirit.
Cannavaro said during the press conference before the match that the coaching staff has worked to help the players cope with the exceptional atmosphere of Uzbekistan’s first appearance on the global stage, drawing on his personal experience when he led the Italian national team to win the World Cup title in 2006.
The Italian coach explained that his main message to the players was the necessity of enjoying the experience and appreciating its historical value, affirming that the team has nothing to lose in its first participation, but at the same time understands the importance of fighting and competing in every match.
He added that participating in the World Cup represents a milestone that will remain etched in the players’ memories throughout their careers, noting that he has made it a point to share the details of his first experience in the global tournament to help them deal with the pressures associated with this event.
Cannavaro stressed that the Uzbek national team is not only seeking to achieve positive results but also aims to present an image that reflects the country’s culture, football identity, and philosophy on the field, pointing out that the first appearance in the World Cup is an opportunity to showcase the character of Uzbek football to the world.
The Uzbek team is relying on defender Abduqodir Xusanov, a Manchester City player, to lead the defensive system during the tournament, as Cannavaro described him as a player who has the ability to control the course of the match and handle pressure, in addition to his tactical flexibility and ability to play in multiple positions.
The Italian coach believes that Xusanov’s emergence in one of the top European clubs reflects the rapid development of Uzbek football, expecting that in the coming years more Uzbek players will transition to major European leagues.
He also pointed out that the progress made in football in Uzbekistan, through investment in academies and sports infrastructure, was among the main reasons that led him to accept the task of coaching the national team.
Uzbekistan will begin its journey in Group 15 by facing Colombia at the Azteca Stadium in the Mexican capital, before facing Portugal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Cannavaro expressed his eagerness to play in one of the most famous stadiums in the history of football, affirming that playing on ground that has witnessed immortal moments created by legends of the game represents an exceptional experience for his team.
