عزز النادي الأهلي خلال الموسمين الأخيرين من نجاحاته التاريخية وأضاف إلى سجله المرصع بالذهب عبر التاريخ، تاجاً آسيوياً كان مفقوداً، ولكن أصحاب القمصان الخضراء لم يكتفوا بتزيين قمصانهم بالنجمة الذهبية الأولى آسيويا، بل كان اللقب مفتاحاً لانطلاقة قارية وضعت الفريق في نهائي دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة للموسم الثاني على التوالي، لتفتح باباً جديداً من أبواب المجد للقلعة الخضراء وترسم ملامح مستقبل أخضر بلاشك.
وتعود قصة تأسيس النادي الأهلي إلى عام 1937، ليضع منذ ذلك الحين اسمه ركناً أساسياً من أركان كرة القدم السعودية، بل أحد أطراف نجاحها، حيث سجل اسمه كأول فريق سعودي يخوض نهائي البطولة الآسيوي عندما واجه دايو الكوري في عام 1986، وعاد مرة أخرى للعب نهائي دوري أبطال آسيا في 2012 قبل أن يحقق أول ألقابه القارية في الموسم الماضي، ليعود مجدداً ويتأهل إلى نهائي دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة في هذا الموسم.

The story of the founding of Al-Ahli Club dates back to 1937, establishing itself as a fundamental pillar of Saudi football and one of its success stories. It recorded its name as the first Saudi team to reach the final of the Asian championship when it faced the Korean team Daewoo in 1986. It returned to play in the AFC Champions League final in 2012 before achieving its first continental title last season, and once again qualified for the final of the elite AFC Champions League this season.
